Job Summary: The SAM Technical Analyst shall assist in the life-cycle management of Kronos software assets including inventory tracking, usage and database entry of relevant IT contract information.

Job Description: As a Software Asset Management Technical Analyst, reporting to the Director of Software Asset Management (SAM), you will be responsible for daily and strategic management and control of the Kronos software portfolio in order to optimize the value, cost and risk of software. You will track, maintain, and coordinate license and maintenance agreement renewals and procurements in the SAM Tool. You will develop and analyze reports that show license entitlements, installations, usage, renewal, procurement status, and shortfalls/overages. You will work closely with subject matter experts, including system architects, system administrators, project and program managers, financial managers, engineers and third-party consultants to obtain critical information required for the management of software. You will help drive decisions regarding software licensing models and terms that have a direct impact on the company’s bottom line.

Specifically, you will:
• Collect and maintain accurate Software Licensing information in the SAM tool to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost.
• Work with SAM tools, processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage and reporting of key software data so that the products can be managed across the enterprise in an effective manner.
• Continuously monitor the tool for software Client, inventory, and meter software use for key vendor products. Provide analysis of the software data that can be used to drive key business decisions.
• Provide impact assessments on all pending or potential architectural changes, outlining incremental license or maintenance costs due to change and pinpointing any potential cost mitigation opportunities based on license use metrics or product use changes.
• Track and ensure notice periods are met for changes and cancellations. Identify savings opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization.
• Respond to requests from Software Owners, end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management information.
• Stay informed of new and updated software license models and options for key vendor products.
• Actively assesses risk and cost reduction opportunities and makes recommendations to Software Owners and Software Asset Management leadership to optimize the software asset portfolio.
• Enter publisher software entitlement rights into the SAM tool.
• Research to locate contracts for additional license entitlements.
• Interpret contracts, procedures or policies and preparing concise summaries and/or explaining relevant details to others.
• Remediate any deployment discrepancies by reallocation, purchase of additional entitlement or removal of non-compliant licenses from the applicable equipment.
• Assist with the execution and ongoing review of policies.
• Assist with development and tracking of internal deployment procedures.
• Handle software requests in ServiceNow.
• Create and deliver reports for leadership and other stakeholders.  
• Perform quality control to ensure all data captured on software assets is accurate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or equivalent work experience
• Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving skills, including the ability to accumulate, organize, and assimilate large amounts of information.
• Knowledge of Software Asset Management principals / practices
• Knowledge of product use rights for publishers such as Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, Symantec, IBM, VmWare etc. a plus
• Understanding of Asset Management tools and technologies.
• Familiarity with hardware technology and configurations including virtualization a plus
• Knowledge of vSphere and ESXi a plus
• OS experience with Windows / Linux a plus
• Strong written & verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical teams
• Advanced in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• ServiceNow experience a plus
• Ability to multitask
• IAITAM or CSAM certification a plus
• 1-3 years related experience preferred
