Kronos is seeking a Senior Director to lead our Advanced Research Group to both implement cutting-edge data science and AI solutions as well as "generate ideas", proposing new research efforts to gain new and unforeseen insights from workforce data!

• Manage a talented team of data scientists and data/software engineers to perform analyses and build prototypes of AI applications to workforce management and human capital management data.
• Act as a subject matter expert for data scientists and engineers, aiding in the debugging and design of complex models, especially time-series forecasts, both in research and production.
• Serve as the spokesperson for AI capabilities, communicating the “art of the possible” to stakeholders both internal and external
• Oversee the transition of AI prototypes from proof of concept through production, helping product management and architects gather requirements and translate them to data scientists and engineers.
• Identify and analyze additional data sources and use cases from across the organization to augment the production opportunities.
• Interface with customers to understand their needs and improve models to their specifications.
• Enjoy working and learning in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment


• MS or PhD (PhD preferred) in Computer Science/Machine Learning, Statistics, Data Science or a quantitative field
• Multiple years of experience leading a team of data scientists working on major data science projects
• Practical experience in high-stakes time series forecasting and understanding of how to manage, deploy, and debug forecasting models with significant real-world consequences and potential costs.
• Substantial depth as a practitioner and theorist in at least 1-2 machine learning or AI subfields, including but not limited to regression, classification, deep learning, time-series analysis, clustering, automated planning, active learning, NLP, HCI, etc.
• Understanding of how projects move through a “research cycle” as well as more structured Agile production methodologies.
• Must have expert knowledge of modern Big Data technology stacks and techniques, such as the Spark and Hadoop distributed-computing platforms and container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Must be able to communicate to audiences with highly variate levels of technical depth. The ideal candidate should be comfortable discussing deep learning architecture with a data scientist, expounding the value of such a model to an executive, and demystifying the concept to a customer.
• Must be able to get “hands on” with code when needed, including aiding in the debugging of Python, Scala, and Java code.
• Comfortable managing scientists and engineers with diverse backgrounds and points of view.
