The Engines & Java / object-oriented developer is responsible for the development and maintenance of all employee scheduling engines embedded in our workforce management software products (the new Google Cloud Workforce Dimensions & the Workforce Central Suite). In this role you will work closely with architects, Scrum Masters, development managers and developers in test automation of other local teams for everything related to these engines. The engines developer will be part of a team of 10 people, all located at 3535 Queen Mary (Blue Line, Côte-des-Neiges metro) and will report directly to the team's development manager.


Your responsibilities

• Participate in the analysis, modeling, prototyping, design and development of prediction engines or any other feature
• Evaluate the engine results, by unit tests, functional, integration and performance tests, and improve them if necessary
• Collaborate with other team members, architects, product owners (POs), QA team members and technical writers to ensure proper implementation of business needs
• Help build the skills of less experienced team members and propose proactive process improvements
• Participate in writing technical documents (functional specifications, design documents, etc.) as needed
• Participate and perform inspections and code exams
• Adhere and promote standards for best development practices
• Estimate the time required to complete tasks

Qualifications

• A few years of operational research experience
• Master's or Doctorate in Operations Research
• Experience in programming with Java / OO
• Experience in the area of scheduling is an asset
• A very good understanding of french is a minimum
