Description

Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate coverage and effective operation of the 24/7/365 Kronos Cloud & Hosted database environments
• Continuous monitoring of all services, supporting the team’s effort to restore service as quickly as possible in the event of an outage, and to manage the customer communication(s) effectively
• Coach and mentor personnel to ensure they are working issues as efficiently and accurately as possible in a team oriented professional culture.
• Support changes to the Cloud database environment & participate in delivery of those changes. This includes patching, performance, Incident and Problem management.
• Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure database capacity meets existing and future requirements
• Participate in the development of Cloud Database strategies in collaboration with the cross functional stakeholders
• Understand performance & capacity, how both relate to effective database performance and improvement.
• Develop, refine, and document policies, processes, procedures related to database platforms. Drive adoption and use in support of effective Kronos delivery
• Work with various Customer facing support teams & functions to provide the Cloud DBA perspective
• Develop and report on KPI metrics, evaluate areas for improvement & solution. Ensure outliers & escalations are responded to appropriately
• Plan training objectives, timelines, deliverables and milestones for the team
• Manage and set priorities for maintenance, development, and evaluation of all database related security and implementations.
• Conduct feasibility studies for various database upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
• Evaluate hardware and software standards for database in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
• Test server performance and provide DB performance statistics and reports.
• Meet/exceed and maintain service levels and KPI’s as assigned
• Should have experience delivering services within a Global organization and managing or support resources remotely.
• Occasional travel may be required
• Available for on call escalation on a rotational basis as needed
• Support after hours work & teams as needed

Qualifications

• Experience with internal MS SQL database security and related external Infrastructure (Network, Servers, Storage, Backups)
• Proven strong interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Collaborates with colleagues across the organization to get things done
• Understanding of Transactional SQL, Stored Procedures, SQL Monitoring tools and Performance tuning.
• Must be able to demonstrate experience in making recommendations & proposals on administrative or functional activities within the Kronos Cloud operating environment
• Experience working in and with cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills required ability to identify and analyze Infrastructure, Network and operational processes and then drive corrective / preventative action plans
• 10 plus years of professional experience in database design and operational excellence supporting a SaaS or Managed Service environment; involving a geographically distributed support model including 5+ years’ experience at the manager level
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or related experience is preferred
• Hands on experience in performance tuning, capacity planning, incident handling, escalation, notification and workload tracking
• Experience of overseeing DBA teams & activities in support of a Customer Hosted SaaS environment (Single/Multi-tenant)
• Experience with Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation (Mirroring, Replication, log shipping, MS Cluster…)
• Working knowledge of ITIL (Incident / Problem / Change / Availability Management) and knowledge of managing a Cloud Hosted database environment within the ITIL framework. Certification a plus
• Solid understanding and experience using enterprise management tools like Manage Engine, Service Now, KeyNote, Windows & Oracle DB tools
