Manager, Technical Training – Instructional Design

This position will report into the Sr Manager and will be responsible for providing workload guidance, structure, standardization and coaching and mentoring for the Instructional Design team. They will participate in global, cross-functional initiatives and work closely with Learning Program Managers to conduct needs analysis, monitor quality and evaluate effectiveness of training curriculum to ensure high-quality learning that is engaging, supports business objectives and learner needs.
The candidate for this role will be a strong people and project leader who can anticipate bottlenecks and balance business needs to move projects forward quickly. They thrive and succeed in a fast-paced environment and are not hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.
This role requires excellent project management skills, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and strong communication skills. Above all, you must possess a passion for learning and contribute to team and customer success.
• Partner with Learning Program Managers to define and scope projects by working closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and TOPS teams to understand their needs and create clear learning objectives, outcome statements, and project plans.
• Develop and manage project plans that successfully deliver promised results.
• Establish instructional design standards, process and procedures and manage for accountability.
• Identify process improvement strategies to expedite the production of training curricula and enhance the quality of materials being delivered.
• Accelerate the shift to a rapid content development strategy by modifying the existing content development process to leverage agile development methods.
• Build and foster partnerships across multiple teams to review project deliverables and motivate completion of SME reviews.
• Leverage innovative instructional design methods to create engaging, outcome-driven, and provocative learning experiences.
• Analyze learning evaluation data and metrics to diagnose gaps, identify opportunities and implement change to ensure learning portfolio products are current, relevant and delivered in the most efficient and effective manner.
People Management
• Lead a team to deliver excellence in training programs and practices.
• Keep the talent bar high and grow the skills and capabilities of the team as the organization grows.
• Provide hands-on leadership and technical and non-technical guidance to the team, both individually and as a group.
• Create an environment of collaborative development and collective accountability.


• 5 – 10 years’ experience in training development, adult learning and instructional design experience with an emphasis on development of learning solutions for technical audiences on a global scale.
• 3+ years people management experience.
• 2+ years experience working in a SaaS/Agile environment.
• BS/BA Instructional Design, Education Technology or similar field.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office 365 product suite, including Excel, SharePoint, Project, PowerPoint
• Instructional design experience
• Experience with a variety of instructional media including instructor-led, online/digital, and virtual instructor-led training.
• Ability to manage and adapt to change and to influence change with team members and leaders.
• Detail-oriented, organized and resourceful with a strong orientation to results
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects
• High sense of urgency & expectation, driven by accomplishment
• Great sense of humor and can roll with the punches
