Description

Kronos is currently recruiting a Lead Java developer to join its engineering center of excellence in Montreal to work on its new SaaS cloud based solution using a highly mature SCRUM based SDLC.
You will be supervising 5 developers and will work closely with 2 Automation Test developers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of complex architectures, will be expected to leverage his/her technical expertise and has the ability to coach and mentor peers.

We are looking for someone who is always on the cutting edge of technology: responsive web design, cloud technologies, performance, databases.

The Lead Java developer will:

• Leads/Manage the design for large complex projects and deals with technical challenges
• Develops new concepts and principles
• Work in a multi-disciplinary role to plan and lead product development, identify and fill technical gaps. Facilitate knowledge transfer throughout the organization
• Integrate knowledge of own discipline with knowledge of other disciplines to develop integrated solutions and help in setting organizational road-map
• Ensure adherence of the development team to the architectural vision of the product, ensuring that associated designs follow that vision
• Lead performing design definitions across one or more products aligning needs with cross functional product teams. –
• Work on problems of highly complex scope, through expert usage of non-standard concepts & principles requiring high levels of judgment & interpretation
• Handle issues with respect to performance management and crisis management
• Apply advanced knowledge and experience to the development of new methods, programs and procedures
• Offer expertise cutting across units and makes tactical decisions having an impact on business - keeping up to date on new trends, estimating, assessing, managing and meeting commitments across projects. Be comfortable challenging estimates for the projects which don’t appear reasonable.
• Model for the benefit of others, excellence in setting and delivering on commitments.
• Works under minimal supervision and exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Defines work, sets direction and seeds innovation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Object Oriented Programming
• Be an influencer, we are looking for a leader
• Master design patterns and design technics
• Advanced Java Spring knowledge (Java 8 , multi-threading, generics, annotations, etc.)
• Rest service knowledge
• Distributed Computing knowledge : MapReduce, Cassandra, Spark
• SQL knowledge
• Knowledge or experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
• Unit testing knowledge. Automation testing knowledge.
• Knowledge of Cloud is an asset
• Knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript frameworks (like Angular) is a plus.
• Knowledge of mobile technologies platforms (iOS, Android, etc.), frameworks, etc. is a plus.
• Bilingual English-French a plus
