Director, Engineering Operations
Description
The Director of Engineering, Operations reports to the Senior Vice President of Development working alongside Product and Development leaders to identify and implement transformative value creation and operational improvement opportunities in the Technology and Innovation organization. This function leads strategic initiatives, taking ownership of key priorities from start to finish to accelerate achievement of T&I’s operating objectives alongside our company’s objectives, including margin expansion and reaching return on investment targets. This function is expected to understand the organization holistically and increase the value of UKG Pro by linking disparate processes, uncovering bottlenecks, and creating, alignment, and structure improvements and accountability in our insights, processes and products. Long term, experience in this function equips individuals with the tools to become future leaders & general managers of business lines at UKG.The Director of Engineering, Operations is expected to propose and present ideas and methods to create structure, alignment, and improvement in our processes and products, obtain buy in from senior leaders, and stand up and lead working teams to execute on those plans. This function exists to facilitate executive decision making and infuse good business judgement into the Development organization, building and scaling within it a solid business foundation.
Primary/Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Identify, scope, and implement value creation opportunities across the organization
Develop and manage a portfolio of key growth and operational improvement initiatives, short, medium and long term
Drive operational change and ensure transfer of best practices across all areas of Development
Assist T&I leadership in identifying, quantifying, prioritizing, and executing key strategic initiatives across Products & Innovation
Prioritize high impact initiatives that support rapid returns for revenue enhancement and cost reduction
Ensure organizational and systems infrastructure are robust enough to support high growth
Work with senior leaders across T&I to meet strategic objectives
Connect silos to cultivate holistic, quantified, and prioritized operational and capital decisions
Identify productivity gains by examining existing systems and processes
Understand business units by partnering with leaders and business unit managers
Assist in market assessment and validation for product launches
Drive a continuous improvement mindset and bring strong business judgement to the P&I culture
Work collaboratively across a cross-functional set of stakeholders to gather the right information, co-create deliverables, accelerate execution and ultimately unlock value
Support strategy / business planning processes and assist with developing strategic capabilities across the organization
Drive change across the organization and be willing to wear multiple hats (strategy development, project management, and execution) to do what it takes to “move the needle”
Qualifications
7+ years of professional experienceBusiness owner mentality
Activist investor mindset to identify and align activities that do not meet required growth, margin, and return objectives
Business acumen to approach broad problems holistically
Prior experience in: process engineering, product, technology, finance, consulting, resource planning, corporate strategy, leadership, benchmarking, and forecasting
Hard skills: analytics, modelling, process mapping, market analysis and research, engineering skills or education, investing experience, hands-on execution
Soft skills: Stakeholder management, organizational behavior, business judgement, presenting, influencing, well-read in business literature, intellectually curious
Strong verbal and written language skills.
Experience working with executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Software Development, Engineering or Finance Background preferred
MBA Preferred
Self-starter, understands the big picture, willing to do the work to execute the big picture
