PostgreSQL/EnterpriseDB PPAS Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the database administration functions of the Cloud services department. This position is responsible for database planning, design, and implementation, as well as the maintenance and optimization of PostgreSQL/EnterpriseDB PPAS database supporting our Cloud application.
•Expert in Installation / configuration/ maintenance and Administration of PostgreSQL with an emphasis on EnterpriseDB versions.
•Expert in developing scripts for a range of maintenance activities
•Experience with Enterprise Failover Manager for HA is required
•Must be able to patch/upgrade PostgreSQL in a HA architecture
•Experience with xDB Replication preferred
•Knowledge of connection poolers like pgPool and pgBouncer ideal
•Experience with Implementation in a Cloud Environment ideal
•Knowledge of Planning and Implementing (scripting) backup strategies.
•Cloud SaaS (multi-tenant) environment experience preferred
•Linux Administration (RHEL) experience preferred
•Knowledge of Integration with 3rd party Monitoring Systems
•Familiarity with Virtual Machine (or Docker) technology a plus
•Communicates effectively to both technical and non-technical individuals at various levels of customer and internal organizations
•Works as a member of a 24 x 7 team


The successful applicant will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. They will possess strong consultative abilities and communication skills which they will leverage to tie their technical recommendations to business benefits and process change. After initial training, they normally require little instruction on their day-to-day work.
• BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5-8+ years of experience working as a PostgreSQL/EnterpriseDB PPAS DBA with an experience of supporting Cloud customer facing production environments.
• Experience managing 24x7 production support.
• Strong knowledge in UNIX/LINUX platforms.
• Must be able to manage time effectively and to deliver on commitments
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to operate well in a team environment and when under pressure
• Knowledge of Java platforms and middleware is plus (e.g. Apache, Tomcat etc.)
