Description

Installs, configures and maintains Databases as per product requirement and industry best practice. Ensures Database is available, Secure, healthy, efficient and recoverable as per expectations. Performs regular system reviews and identify, plan and implement solutions for current and future need of product and organization. Evaluates and implements high availability solution as per need. Reviews current and new code/scripts against best practices and expected result. Designs and implements automation for recurring tasks. Formulates and monitor policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Able to independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution with no or minimum handholding. Solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Providing technical mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members in area of expertise. Must be capable of working independently and collaborate with other stakeholders. Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities.

Regular Tasks (but not limited to):


•CR and code review for best practices and standards
•Guide L1 and L2 DBAs in analysis and troubleshooting
•Develop alerting and monitoring solutions (using DMVs, Perfmon, Profiler and other tools)
•Develop database maintenance solutions
•Troubleshoot SSIS, reporting, ETL and data warehouse related issues
•Analyze performance related issues from all aspects
•Create build templates
•Create and maintain DB setup and configuration PL/SQL scripts
•Review windows and infrastructure resources for bottlenecks and suggest options for improvement
•Implement and maintain clustering, log shipping, always-on and replication solutions
•Review problematic code and suggest options for improvement
•Continuous review of existing best practices/SOPs and update if there is any scope of improvement

•Essential Functions:
◦Monitor production systems, resolve issues proactively, escalating to senior engineers, if needed.
◦Support production and other environments consisting of SQL 2000-2008 , Windows Server 2000-2014.
◦Install, administer, and update Windows and SQL 2000-2014 servers.
◦Trouble shoot and resolve performance related issues for SQL 2000-2014 servers.
◦Configure and maintain replication, log shipping and MS cluster.

Secondary Functions:
◦Continuous learning of system administration topics.
◦Function as a liaison between Hosting Operations and other teams within the company, which may include direct or indirect contact with our customers.
◦Any and all additional job duties as defined by Hosting management.






Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


1.Installation / configuration/ maintenance and Administration of SQL SERVR 2000, 2008, 2014.
2.Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation (Mirroring, Replication, log shipping, MS Cluster…)
3.Good knowledge of Transactional SQL, Stored Procedures, SQL Monitoring tools and Performance monitoring.
4.Knowledge of Planning and implementing backup policies.
5.Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security.
6.Knowledge of hosting/SaaS environments, Network Operations Center protocol, focusing on systems performance and high availability.
7.Knowledge of server hardware systems and Operating system.
8.Knowledge and experience in qualifying, staging and deploying of specialized software pieces into a complex production hosting center.
9.Knowledge of the following technology areas:
10.Installation, Administration and configuration of Windows servers.
11.Knowledge of Active Directory (user, Groups, computer management and Group Policy).
12.Disaster Recovery Planning.


1.Good to Have:
1.Scripting knowledge (WS script, power shell, Dos and Batch scripts).
2.Exposure to ORACLE RDBMS.
3.Backup and recovery tools.
4.Exposure to ITIL tools.

Qualifications

Graduate in Computer Science. MCA/ Regular PG course in Computers added advantage. Min. 5 years related work experience. 3+ years in Microsoft SQL SERVER administration.
