Cloud Production Database Administrator IV, Kronos Incorporated, Purchase, New York

Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining Databases in a cloud-based technology platform. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensures that databases are available, secure, healthy, efficient and recoverable.
• Performs regular system reviews and identifies, plans and implements solutions for the current and future need of the product and organization.
• Evaluates and implements high availability solutions in accordance with business requirements.
• Reviews current and new code/scripts against best practices and expected result.
• Designs and implements automation for recurring tasks and formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
• Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
• Correlates database related activities/troubleshooting/planning with infrastructure components including data center layout, OS/hardware, network, SAN, virtualization/Cloud, etc.
• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time and in a Live Production environment, providing end-to-end problem resolution.
• Follows ITIL processes for support and changes.
• Acts as Technical Lead on Database projects including designing solutions, perform POCs and assisting Level 2 and Level 3 DBAs in development and implementation of solutions.
• Addresses directly or guide resources in highly escalated and complex issues related to performance, corruption, data recovery or application related P1 scenarios.
• Creates standard guidelines, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting methods and templates as they relate to the Database function.

Qualifications

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and 6 years of experience as a Database Administrator working with workforce management products.

Must also have experience with: (i) designing technical solutions to Database problems and working on logical and physical design, database architecture, high availability, crash recovery and DR concepts; (ii) identification, design and implementation of monitoring solutions, performance improvement, execution plans and database behavior in various scenarios; (iii) environment components (servers, storage, network, firewall, VM, load balancers and application servers) and partnering with technical teams to achieve group and organizational goals; (iv) creating, scheduling and automating data archiving for workforce management products; (v) data model diagrams, building release scripts and upgrade scripts; and (vi) various tool sets required to support specific workforce management products including specifically Install anywhere, install4j, SVN, Jenkins, Continuum, Maven and JBoss.
