The Enterprise Storage Engineer will be a key member of the Enterprise Engineering team. The Enterprise Storage Engineer will provide design, thought leadership and drive implementation of cloud storage infrastructure. The Enterprise Storage Engineer will be responsible for full Architectural life cycle of technology roadmaps and solutions architecture for numerous present and future systems and technologies based on "Security First” approach. This position will lead selection of products, tools, technologies and services and actively participate in selection of tools and technologies.

Cloud Storage Engineer at UKG is a hybrid of Storage/System/Network Architect that have a breadth of knowledge encompassing all aspects of service delivery of technology. They develop cloud solutions to enhance, harden and support our service delivery processes. This can include building and managing Cloud deployments, automated testing, capacity planning, performance analysis, monitoring, alerting, chaos engineering and auto remediation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
• Lead the overall architecture and design of our storage infrastructure including block storage, NAS and the move to Software Defined Storage.
• Drive the execution of the next generation of storage and data protection technologies, including owning the overall roadmap
• Design solutions for automation of storage infrastructure including end-to-end including provisioning, management and monitoring
• Create solutions that lower TCO and achieve performance and reliability requirements
• Work closely with technology and business stakeholders across the organization
• Evaluate vendor solutions to ensure they meet technology and cloud standards, as well as all applicable architecture considerations, conduct proof of concept exercises and assess technology feasibility
• Engage with development teams during operational security reviews, provide leadership and security design guidance
• Play a key and influential role working with others; this include engineering and operations teams

Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Skills:
• Expert in the field of storage, especially in block storage and NAS
• 8+ years of experience in storage engineering
• 8+ years hands on experience with designing, configuring and managing on-premise SAN and NAS platforms as well as successfully implementing storage with major cloud providers in addition to migrating storage from on-premise SANs and NAS to cloud storage
• 8+ years of hands on experience with backup and DR tools
• VMWare Virtualization (ESXi, vCloud Director, vRealize, vSAN)
• Experience with cloud based storage solutions and integrating those solutions into the public cloud
• Strong track record of implementing storage services in a variety of distributed computing environments
• Hands-on experience with high performance storage and storage optimization in highly-available, large-scale, multisite, international environments
• Hands-on experience with building tooling and automation for provisioning, monitoring, and managing the storage infrastructure
• Understanding of basic financial analysis and TCO calculations
• Deep solutioning and implementation skills - Ability to work backwards from customer requirements to combine private/public storage assets if needed implement solutions that will resonate with internal/external customers and solve their storage problems
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
• Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively with customers, internal and external organizations and virtual teams. Presentation skills a plus
• B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related IT work experience in a global information technology environment

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
• Experience with distributed system design and architecture
• Experience with various storage technologies such as Openstack, Ceph, NetApp, EMC, IBM, Nimble, Software Defined Storage technologies
• Hands-on experience in designing and implementing storage at scale, such as multi petabyte storage, billion file challenge
